Reset

It's 10:30 on Saturday night and I haven't written my Starter yet. I debated on just writing it in the morning - which I have done only once or twice before - but I didn't want to start my week feeling like I was already behind. Do you know that feeling? Like no matter how much you accomplish you just still feel like you're falling short?

When those moments happen, I've found the only way out of them is to wipe the slate clean.

When I began the Sunday Starter, a clean slate is exactly what I had in mind for it. I chose the name because I wanted it to be a weekly ritual; something to remind myself and all my readers that each week, we get a reset. I wanted Sunday morning to be a chance to look at the week behind and learn from our mistakes, and also a chance to look ahead at what's possible and start again.

So, when I get up tomorrow, I will look back on this week, and this very short post, and know that I should have given myself more time to write. But I'll also know that's it's okay, because when you are consistent with something - when you make a decision to keep showing up week after week no matter what - then you always have another shot at doing better next week.

Tonight, I choose to give myself a pass. This post isn't perfect, but it's here and next week I'll get a chance to do reset and try again.

What about you? Is there an area in your life where you feel behind? Maybe this morning is your chance to give yourself a fresh start because sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is forgive yourself, take a breath, and start again.
